EPA Announces $3 Billion in Funding for Lead Pipe Replacement
December 9, 2025
The EPA’s recent funding announcement for lead service line replacement (LSLR) is a welcome step toward making drinking water safe for children and families across the country. This $3 billion in FY 25 funding, as well as an additional $1.1 billion in previously unspent LSLR funds, will help communities move forward with replacing toxic lead pipes. States must act quickly to ensure these funds reach the communities most at risk.
We’ll continue working for interim protections, including proactive water filter distribution, while fighting for increased and sustained federal funding for long-term protections and to remove lead from our water for good.
